The Peak is a must see destination for tourists in Hong Kong, with it’s amazing views over Victoria Harbour.

Set high above Hong Kong, Victoria Peak, or The Peak as it’s known locally offers amazing views across Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. It’s such a classic view that you’ll likely have seen many times but it’s well worth seeing for yourself. My favourite time to visit was sunset, along with a huge amount of other people. If you want to photograph around sunset, be sure to get there early to get a decent spot to set up.

There are a number of ways of getting up to the peak, with the most scenic being the Peak Tram. It’s a 10 minute ride up the side of the mountain to the Peak Tower shopping centre. There is a viewing platform at the top of the Peak Centre called the Sky Terrace 428 with great views over the city but it’s not the only location to get these views.

I went to the Lions Pavillion to get the view from there. It’s only a short walk from the Peak Tram. There are a few things to do there and a number of restaurants to get something to eat but everything as you might expect is very touristy.

At busy times, the tram can be massively busy and a taxi might be the quickest option to get to the top.

On another visit I explored some of the nature trails at the peak and discovered some amazing views of Victoria Harbour which give a bit of a different perspective from the obvious places. You can even get views of some of the neighbouring islands as you walk around.
